You

You 02:54
I took a train to Hebden Bridge and walked along the old canal, Because I thought I might see you. I walked along the Calder to the Sunny shining bright town square And told someone of you. I thought about making a call or walking down to Mytholmroyd, To try to talk with you. My phone was in my shaking hand, So many people milling round, And none of them was you. If I told you for six whole weeks I lay awake all night Would you try to talk things through? I tracked his moves on Instagram as he made his way, By campervan to you. I couldn't help but do it even though it broke my heart in two. Then I watched you drive to lakes and swim with him, Like we used to do. I know that sounds strange, but I did it to feel connected to you. If I told you one hot May night I almost took my light, Would you then please talk things through? My last message is hanging off the bottom of a thread, Unanswered by you. If I told you for six whole weeks, I did not sleep at night, Would you then, Jeni, please try to talk things through?

about

This is a song about trying to get resolution. And not knowing the best way to do it. But really wanting it. I hope this song's not misunderstood. Emotions can make you do strange things.
